Infant Massage
The International Association of Infant Massage Program has the first international program that focuses on supporting families to bond with their babies through massage and nurturing touch.
Infant massage classes are offered in a small group format, but can also be provided individually or as a parenting unit. The services are provided with your infant present. Although the techniques learned are useful at any age the target population for the class is birth to 12 months.
There are a total of five classes lasting about an hour. The class can be offered in person or virtually.
Based on research, there have been many benefits of infant massage identified. For example, studies have found that infant massage may:
-
Reduce colic.
-
Help babies sleep longer.
-
Lower stress for both parents and babies.
-
Boost relaxation hormones by reducing stress.
-
Benefit premature babies and those with special needs.
-
Aid parents in recovering from postnatal depression.
-
Build confidence in parenting skills.
These services are not clinical in nature, and are not billable to insurance.
