Parenting Education
At Building Foundations Counseling and Consultation we understand that there are no manuals or cheat sheets when it comes to parenting. Often times our culture suggests that we should "just know" what to do with any given situation in the parenting world, which can feel lonely and invalidating.
The truth is very few people, if any, are prepared and have all the answers when it comes to parenting. I am able to offer education and recommendations but you are still the expert of your family. We will work together to figure out what best suits your needs as a family unit.
Circle of Security Parenting (COSP), is an attachment based parenting program that helps parents build on what they already know to work towards a more positive parenting experience for you and your child.
Circle of Security Parenting is often offered in a group setting, over the course of 8 sessions. Although it's target population is for children 4 months to 7 years old, the information is applicable to all ages. This information can be given one on one or as a couple if that is preferred over the group format.
The program includes eight small group meetings of about 6-8 parents. Each session lasts about 1.5 hours. This is a curriculum based program that includes short videos and activities to explore the parenting relationship. At this time child-care is not offered and although the group is best attended without children we understand that accommodations may need to be made from time to time. The group can be offered in person or virtually.
This service is not covered by health insurance.
